A little history:
"In the 18th century, from Place Tourny to Rue du Palais Gallien, the street took the name of Font d'Audège, a fountain or rather spring that gushed nearby. As it was tortuous and cluttered, Tourny "doubled" it and began to demand that it be straightened. This was more or less achieved in the course of the 19th century.

The widening of the street, leading to demolitions and reconstructions, explains why many houses were remodeled at this time. The name Fondaudège was then applied right up to the crow's-foot where the Segey stone cross used to stand."
